The legislation (A-2649),Cape May assemblyman urges passage of new animal cruelty act, “Angel’s Law,” would update the state’s anti-cruelty law to better protect animals by making the abuse, neglect and abandonment of an animal a criminal offense punishable by jail time and steep fines.

Van Drew said he began working on his legislation in the wake of a 2004 Animal Welfare Task Force report, which provided numerous recommendations to modernize New Jersey’s current archaic set of statutes concerning animal cruelty.

First established in 1880, New Jersey’s animal cruelty laws have not kept pace with recent animal cruelty issues and there is a pressing need to elevate how animal cruelty offenses are handled by law enforcement and the courts.http://sacvuitton2013.webs.com/
