Among the top GOP White House hopefuls, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, a key sponsor of the immigration bill, said Republicans have alienated Hispanics in the debate and must work hard to win back votes. But he sent his regrets to the debate organizers.
Florida’s Cuban population took another hit when Republican presidential aspirant Fred Thompson told a crowd in South Carolina on Wednesday that he was concerned about thousands of illegal immigrants coming from Cuba.
