La Magra is older than Drake because he was the first vampire he created. La Magra can only be summoned through a special ritual that involves Blade’s blood. He was later absorbed by Deacon Frost until Frost was killed by Blade. (This is also depicted in the orginal Blade comic books. Number 7 of the series. Which introduced the concept of the Blood God (unknown name) from the comic book into the first movie. La Magra has the ability to regenerate blood and body parts. Although he has never been seen with a body of his own the ability is shown. He aparently has the ability to instantly turn any human into vampires upon contact,Blade Wiki. This may have led to either the death of vampires or the evolution. La Magra also seems to increase the strength of the one whom he possesses and seemingly grant immortality and immunity against weapons. Although La Magra has the ability to regenerate blood and body parts he has a distinct weakness to EDT which led to his eventual destruction.
In an alternate ending to the first Blade movie, La Magra is not absorbed by Frost, and is instead depicted as a swirling blood vortex that fills the chamber. With Deacon Frost in the middle he recites an incantation whrein the HoE members had their souls forcibly pulled from their body.
