If you live where this is the predominant live “news” on the airwaves http

http://lunettes-carrerapascher.infoFirst, I want to thank The News-Times for printing so many varied opinions on your opinion pages. They run the spectrum from strongly conservative to strongly liberal views, and though I disagree with some of them, it is the mark of a good newspaper to allow many sides of any subject to be read.

Last week’s essay by was about the death of Alison Des Forges,Nation needs serious discussion of ideas, a great humanitarian who worked in Rwanda: “That once-prosperous little country in the center of Africa . that fell into such unspeakable savagery between the in 1994 that upward of 800,000 people were slaughtered within months.”

She claimed genocide resulted from “the deliberate choice of a modern elite to foster hatred and fear to keep itself in power. They flooded the air with radio broadcasts urging the poorer Hutus everywhere to set out and massacre the prosperous Tutsi ‘cockroaches’. Tens of thousands, swayed by fear, hatred, or hope of profit, made the choice (to slaughter) quickly and easily.”

I can’t help but compare this with the poisonous broadcasts on our radio stations over the past few years, by names you all recognize, that in the name of entertainment spew out endless reams of half-truths and outright lies to inflame the American public against any change in our many years of failed Republican leadership.

If you live where this is the predominant live “news” on the airwaves (and this is almost everywhere), you will develop a very distorted idea of what is really happening in our country. This was one of the reasons why we elected an incompetent president, not once, but twice.http://sacvuitton2013.webs.com/
