Halifax dimanche pour que justice soit rendue dans l’affaire Parsons
HALIFAX – Des dizaines de personnes se sont rassemblées dimanches devant le quartier général régional de la Gendarmerie royale du Canada (GRC) à Halifax pour réclamer la justice pour Rehtaeh Parsons, une adolescente de seventeen ans qui s’est suicidée après avoir subi de l’intimidation pendant des mois.
Des gens brandissaient des pancartes et ont écrit des messages sur une bannière pour l’adolescente, qui s’est pendue et a été débranchée des appareils la gardant en vie il y a une semaine.
La jeune femme est désormais connue à l’échelle internationale après que sa famille eut blmé sa mort l’intimidation qui était liée à une présumée agression sexuelle commise par quatre garçons lors d’une fête, en 2011.
La manifestation pacifique a été organisée par le groupe de pirates Anonymous, qui affirme connaître l’identité des garçons accusés d’être impliqués dans l’agression sexuelle.
L’organisateur Dave Rossetti a expliqué à la foule que le groupe demandait à la GRC de poursuivre son enquête, et que le ministère provincial de la Justice lance une enquête sur la gestion de l’affaire par la police fédérale.
De son côté, la GRC a annoncé vendredi qu’elle rouvrirait son enquête, entamée pour la première fois en 2011.
La famille déplore qu’il aura fallu 10 mois aux enquêteurs pour interroger les suspects lors de la première enquête, mais la GRC a dit ne pas pouvoir nier ou confirmer cette affirmation.
