http://sacslouisvuittonfr.webs.com/Petrol prices are widely tipped to hit the $1.40 a litre mark in capital cities this Easter and while motoring groups argue that this part of a price gouging strategy by major oil companies, Caltex argues that this is an urban myth. Caltex managing director and CEO Des King discusses the petrol price rise.

According to Caltex, there are four major influences on petrol prices:

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) state that Australia’s petrol prices are closely linked to international benchmarks as “changes in the international price for refined petrol and movements in the Australian/US dollar exchange rate are the main influences on movements in the overall level of domestic petrol prices”.

King explains that there have been recent changes in the international market which have affected the Australian petrol prices forcing prices to rise.

“There is upward pressure in Singapore right now because of Iran and some refineries in the United States and there is a strike in France, which all impacts on Australia and is currently driving the price of petrol up,” he says.

So will petrol hit the $1.40 mark?

King says it’s impossible to predict but adds the best time to buy petrol in most cities is on Mondays and Tuesdays as the price usually goes up on weekends.

A NRMA spokesperson is more sceptical, stating that petrol prices have been consistently rising and not just on public holidays.

He says whether or not it will hit $1.40 a litre this weekend, the NRMA would like to see the government give more power to the ACCC to monitor the activities of oil companies.http://sacvuitton2013.webs,Easter petrol prices.com/
